How to Lay Shingle Tiles on Your Sauna

Video #1

Use nail glue or a heat gun to securely lock the shingles or tiles in place. If a waterproof sheet is applied, ensure there are no gaps and that it is properly adhered using suitable adhesive.

Cube or Barrel Sauna Shingle Tiles

Use nail glue to lock the shingles in or heat gun as an option.

Caring for Your Sauna

Exterior

CUTEK® Extreme CD50 is a high-performance, oil-based wood stabiliser designed for tough Australian conditions. It penetrates deep into timber, enhancing natural grain while protecting against moisture, warping, and splitting.

Unlike surface coatings, it won’t flake or peel, and maintenance is simple—no sanding or stripping required. Used clear, it allows timber to naturally silver

Interior

Paraffin oil is ideal for sauna wood maintenance due to its:

  • Deep Penetration – Soaks into the wood to nourish and protect from within.
  • Moisture Resistance – Helps repel water, reducing the risk of swelling, cracking, or warping.
  • Non-Toxic & Odourless – Safe for high-heat environments, won’t emit fumes or alter sauna air quality.
  • Enhances Appearance – Brings out the natural grain and colour for a smooth, polished finish.
  • Low Maintenance – Doesn’t form a surface film, so it won’t peel or flake—making reapplication easy.
